The Joys of Homeownership!

This isn't a recent observation but I just want to say how ghetto my house is! We bought it 7 years ago in pretty much perfect condition and now its pretty much blah. The light under our carport lasted a whole 6 months before we gave up on the institution. We had florescent bulbs (the long ones) in these plastic tube things that kept falling because birds decided to live above our light and they kept knocking them down. after buying a billion bulbs i said forget it... who needs a carport light anyways. there are two light switches in our living room that are a mystery. we have no clue what they do to what because nothing happens when we turn them on. the light in the living room has no switch (could be one of the mystery ones but it obviously doesn't work) so we used to have to pull the string to turn on the light. key word here is used to! now the string is on permanent on! so in order to have light besides the lamp is to manually turn the light bulb till it turns on. I have burn many a finger while doing this. We also have a noisy pipe issue. sometimes for no reason but most of the time when we flush or end a shower our pipes are like grrrrrraaaaahhhhhhh... a bit irritating. another lighting issue is my bedroom. the fan works perfectly... the light doesn't exist anymore. at some point breanna pulled the string instead of using the light switch and the light just quit. changed the bulb.... nothing. so now we have the light of just one small lamp in the bedroom. speaking of the bedroom my million year old tv (which i got for Christmas some 11 years ago) is completely bass akwards. if i hit the power button on the tv the volume goes up if i hit the volume the channel changes and so on. but its not every time just sometimes. the remote we have for our dvd player (again a million years old it was top of the line when dvd players were the new thing) is again bass akwards. the next button is backwards, the repeat button is forwards, the power button mutes and so on. at least these are always wrong so i know what to push. the tv in the living room is only a few years old but has a permanent black line going straight through the middle which is impossible to ignore. we have surround sound but its still hard to hear in the living room itself. on volume level 20 you have to turn it up when the a/c kicks on. but when the volume is on 10 its blaring in the back of the house. i know its not the system because it did this before we got it... just the acoustics of the house i guess.... but yeah my home is in need of some serious work so I'm going to pray to the home fix-it fairy to come on over and sprinkle some dust on us... oh did i mention our grass grows like 10x faster than anyones on the street... no joke!

The Library Sucks!!!

I would just like to say that the East Baton Rouge library system has a serious need for re-vamping! I am greatfull however for the computerized system instead of the pre-historic dewey decimal system. Now you can find out that the book you want has already been checked out instantly instead of searching the shelves. My whole thing is if a book has been on the shelf since the begining of time and has never been checked out then throw the sucker away. The library should model itself after a book store.... and by that I mean have more than ONE freaking copy of a wildly popular book on the shelf and actually have some NEW releases... not just books you are saying are new but really came out 2 years ago. I think I should just open up my own library and call it "the library where there are books that people actually want to read". Seriously go to the kids section at the jones creek library. I guarantee you that old ramona book you checked out in 5th grade is still sitting on the shelf with the same old jelly stain you put on there.

book nerd??? who me?!?!

This summer has been one gigantic reading fest for me. I wish I could be all intellectual and say that I have read all the classics but sadly I have never even read the back of Pride and Prejiduce. I prefer the more mindless reads. Give me a good juicy young adult series any day of the week. This is probably why I one day hope to be some big shot editor at a publishing company that caters strictly to young adults. That way I get to read all the new juicy prep school reads before anyone else because I'm selfish that way. I do belive I have set a new record for myself tonight though. I managed to read the last of the Pretty Little Liars series (Wanted) in less than 2 hours. I discovered the series long before the TV show came about and have read all 8 of the books cover to cover. It makes me sad that the books are ended because it was such a awesome story (for fans of the show you MUST read the books.... WAY BETTER!!!)But now that it is over I am trolling for another series. I currently read Blue Bloods, House of Night, Private, Privlage, Vampire Academy, Wicked Lovely, Morganville Vampires, and Evernight. I am playing the waiting game for the next books to come out. I recently read the Gemma Doyle trillogy which was AMAZING!!! I can not say enough good things about Libba Bray's writting. I also finished with The Luxe series. So what I'm getting at is if anyone knows of a good mindless book that is meant for young adults throw it my way! I cant get enough!!!
